All about social impact: introducing Mr Dujardin

Home base: Utrecht. Speciality: Dutch digital design with social impact. Favourite food: risotto - made with passion and patience. Meet Alain Dujardin, creative director and partner of Dutch digital agency Greenberry. Alain is also a board member of Dutch Digital Design. His and Greenberry’s motto: ‘Let’s create digital design that benefits us all’. We asked him a few questions to get to know him and Greenberry better.

Who is Alain Dujardin? And who are Greenberry?

Alain, at 42, has been doing digital design for a long, long time. We like to call that having bags of experience. Originally a copywriter in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, Alain joined the original Greenberry-crew Jan-Willem van Beek, Bas van Bokhorst and Michael de Kruijf, 10 years ago in Utrecht, right in the heart of the Netherlands. Originally just the four of them, now there are roughly 25 of them. Working hard and having fun. With one goal in mind. Being truly user-centric. Always considering making people’s lives a little better, a little easier. Using digital technology to do so.

A Dutch Digital Design partner agency. Why?

Because Greenberry and Dutch Digital Design look at the (digital) world the same way. Proud to be Dutch. Proud of what this little country produces and represents: meaningful but cool, independent, sustainable and not-scared-to-be-different (digital) design. Sharing this with the world. As a united front, with other Dutch digital agencies.

Greenberry’s dream?

Initiating projects that matter to people, and the world. Always involving those people – the users - right from the start. Making sure it works for them. To remain as modest and independent as they are now. With a great bunch of people. Diverse, with lots of energy, and different talents. Creating amazingly cool projects together.

A few of the socially impactful projects they are proud of.

CliniClowns app – to reach (chronically) ill and disabled children with a joke and a smile. Greenberry developed an app for the CliniClowns to enable them to reach these children in a place the clowns can’t get to. For example, at home or on the road.

Médecins Sans Frontières (Netherlands) live web-blog (liveblog.artsenzondergrenzen.nl) – to share what humanitarian crises are happening in the world right now. Enabling Médecins Sans Frontières to report about their work the moment they arrive.

The best of Dutch Digital Design FITC Toronto
